Rebuilding a business casual wardrobe after years of WFH

Hi all. After 10+ years of either working from home or in very casual environments, and job searching for over a year, I finally have a new job with half the week in the office where people wear business casual. Luckily jeans work as long as they’re nicer ones in good shape, but office-friendly tops have been harder.

I’m average size though curvy on top, and I’ve discovered that button downs aren't good on me. Sweaters are okay, except the temperature in the office fluctuates a lot. Short and long sleeve shirts seem the best but I haven't found many and I'm especially struggling with finding things that feel office-appropriate without feeling stiff or overly corporate, since I’m often heading straight to dinner or drinks with friends after work.

Do you have suggestions for specific tops or brands, online shops or stores in the Bay Area I should check out? Hoping to find some cute, comfortable options that hold up well without spending a fortune.

Need ideas to build a business casual wardrobe after years of WFH

Hi all. After 10+ years of either working from home or in casual nonprofit places, and job searching for over a year, I finally have a new job. Hooray! However, I have to go into the office 2-4 days a week, wearing business casual. I've largely been a tshirts and hoody type person, so this is a big shift for me. Luckily jeans work as long as they’re nicer ones in good shape, but office-friendly tops have been harder to figure out.

I’m average size though curvy on top, and have discovered that button downs look awful on me. Sweaters are okay, except the temperature in the office fluctuates a lot. So I've been searching for long and short sleeved tops and struggling. It seems especially hard to find tops that feel office-appropriate without feeling stiff or overly corporate, since I’m often heading straight to dinner or drinks with friends after work.

What kinds of business casual things do you wear? Do you have suggestions for specific tops or brands, or local stores I should check out? Hoping to find some cute, comfortable options that hold up well without spending a fortune.

Or, if any of you are spring cleaning and giving away size large office-friendly tops and/or size 10-ish pants, consider me! I love gem tones and black clothes but am open to branching out and would be jazzed to meet up at happy hour and buy you a thank-you drink or two.

Thanks in advance for any help!
