Finally I've got a stick burner! I'll have some more pictures soon; this is her as soon as I unloaded her from the trailer.
Started with a thorough cleaning inside and out; previous owner elected to use charcoal in the cooking chamber multiple times so there's a lot of superficial rust and very light pitting on the belly that I removed and surface prepped, just waiting now on a nice warm day (been mid 50's all week) to shoot some ultra high heat ceramic black paint all over...probably spent 2.5 hours scraping grease out of the cook chamber too.
Mods on the way are a stack extension, an outlet lowering duct, a tuning baffle, some gasket material for the cook chamber door and some new temp probes which I'll probably install lower than the factory locations. Cool-touch handles were both rusty so I tossed them, and cut some handles out of oak 1-1/4" dowel which are getting a nice reddish/cherry stain and several coats of poly...
Can't wait to cook something on her after curing the paint...I don't think I'll jump right to a brisket but some bone in chicken thighs or maybe a chuck roast might be a good inexpensive starting point!
