I'm once again attempting to get into running but I want to actually give it a full hearted effort for once. I've tried so many times and never really made any huge improvements or stuck with ut. I'm thinking some easy goals like a couple 5k's, maybe run a 6 min mile again like I did once in highschool lol (30 years old now). I had a Fitbit charge 5 back in the day and was looking at the charge 6 recently but sounds like Fitbit has gone downhill big-time and their watches are buggy, bad battery, inaccurate, etc. so I did some research and have a Forerunner 165 getting delivered tomorrow.
To be honest I'm not really sure what I want out of the watch. I think knowing my heart rate would be the best so I can target a heart rate that won't kill me and allow me to stretch out my runs longer and longer but now I'm reading that the wrist HRMs can be very inaccurate. Right now my runs are short, just ~15 mins, 1.5 miles. And they tire me out pretty good at that pace. I usually run with my phone in hand for Spotify and GPS (use the fitness22 run tracker app for distance and times). Based on all this info does the Forerunner sound useful or "necessary"? I'm not fully sure what the benefits would be over phone + a chest strap, I'd probably still run with my phone for music anyways.
