It has come to my attention how dangerous the Grindr map feature is. Here are some examples:
Regardless of whether your location setting is hidden, once you advertise a post in the "Right Now" section, your location is advertised.
If you or someone else has added you as a favorite, the app follows your movements like a live location tracker.
The risks are so dangerous that people could easily find your home on Google Maps (with the option to see Street View). The Grindr map even shows what side of the road your home is on.
Another issue is that Grindr doesn't alert you when someone adds you as a favorite. For example, let's say I live in London, and the search wheel stretches as far as two cities over.
Now imagine someone added you to their favorites while you're visiting family or friends. I also noticed that the ping lasts for an hour or maybe a bit longer.
Please take extra precautions using Grindr.
