This stuff is exhausting. It’s teacher appreciation week and they want us to donate money, call businesses to get the teachers free stuff, buy a gift and have our kids decorate cards.

Then there’s at least 4-5 fundraisers. Sell these subs, cookie dough, pumpkins, gift wrap. I feel like the amount of paperwork we get is crazy. Every week. Read across America, scholastic book fair, early dismissal, Christmas program, donate pajamas, donate pet food. Not to mention there’s a freaking spirit day every week. He’s only there 2 days per week! How do I keep track of this all? I feel like our lives revolve around preschool. Why is it so complicated?

My kids only there for 8 hours per week. I spend more time doing all the extra stuff than I get a break from him. I’m so fed up.

He’s almost 4. He is obsessed with insects since he was a baby.

He just has zero fear when it comes to insects that could harm him. He’ll pick bees up by the head so they can’t sting him. He also picks spiders up with his pincher grasp. He’ll even catch house flies with his bare hands and take them outside. He’s never crushes them either. We’re ok with him letting jumping spiders or other harmless spiders climb onto him. But he’s going to get bit if he traps them. When we make him put it down and send it on its way, he sobs and says it’s his best friend. Which is crazy talk because the kid has more human friends at 4, then I’ve had my entire life combined.

Was anyone a kid obsessed with insects? What got through to you? Are we just going to let him get bit/stung and learn the hard way? I’ve never seen a brown recluse or black widow here, but they are occasionally around. (Maryland). We’re also going out to visit Missouri soon where brown recluse have infested and moved into my in laws garage.
