Myrmecia urens has been the hardest bull ant species I’ve kept so far. Even though it’s small, it’s extremely sensitive to temperature, and if the conditions aren’t right, the queen will keep eating her eggs.

Compared to Myrmecia gulosa and Myrmecia pyriformis, which are also challenging but still manageable, urens feels like a completely different level. As far as I know, no one in my country has successfully raised a full colony of this species yet.

This is my first time keeping urens, and the queen has finally laid 2 eggs and seems stable now. Hopefully they’ll develop into larvae soon. 👍
