I see many snowy bases with bare rocks jutting out of them. But unless the rocks are really steep, that's just not how snow works: it should cover everything!

So for my first outing I wanted to create a realistic "fresh powder" base. I don't know that I got it perfect, but I'm pretty pleased with the attempt.

I actually bought two different kinds snow basing materials, but in the end neither of them gave me what I was looking for. So I just used green stuff (pale blue under coat with a white overcoat). The snow on the cork rocks is just carefully placed speckles of white paint.

I'm enjoying escaping the confines of army painting. Suddenly one box of space marines provides so much to look forward to! Especially proud of my bases on these last two minis.
