When to switch to bioactive for picky snake that won’t eat regularly
Hi!
Context: I have an albino female that’s 9 months and barely 8g, I got her two weeks ago and she just ate her first meal with me yay! The pinky had to be tuna scented but I don’t mind doing that as long as she eats it. I got her in a 6qt baby type bin with aspen that is the closest setup I could make that ressembles the one she had at the breeder. She won’t eat in anything bigger for now. She is smaller than the length of the bin right now and I plan to slowly upgrade her bins while keeping the hides in the same places as she grows until she’s big enough for an adult terrarium size. Temps 30-32C basking, ~28 for the hot side and 24-25 cool side and humidity around 40% although it depends how much she goes in the water and drips everywhere.
I’d like to change her to bioactive eventually, but I don’t want to stress her too much since she needs to put on weight so I was wondering after how many meals should I change her to bioactive? And should I start handling her before the switch or after? Of course I am not handling her right now and I’ll wait until she ate at least 3-5 consecutive meals before starting to socialize her. Being in a bioactive would help because I won’t have to open her bin as often to spot clean so I think it’s gonna be better for her in the long run but I don’t know when to switch.
