Advice about hygiene wanted (please be nice)
I'm coming on here to ask for basically any advice about hygiene. For context, I'm 18 and I still live with my parents but, now that they aren't handling everything for me, it's becoming obvious that I just don't take care of myself properly. I only shower once or twice a week (and I often skip or forget), I barely use deodorant or any kind of product, I go without changing my clothes or underwear for weeks or even months on end, I'll wear stained or dirty clothes (even if it's like old period blood or something), I only brush my teeth a handful of times a week, I only change my sheets when I'm made to, I barely even wash my hands after using the bathroom and so many other things. Part of it is PDA, in that if I don't see the point in something, I won't do it until I have an explanation and I believe that explanation, which I don't for stuff like hygiene, but it's also related to sensory issues, energy problems and routine - things like changing my clothes feel uncomfortable, I don't like the feeling of products or doing my teeth, I don't have any of it built into my routine and some bits have long rituals around them that I don't always want to or have the energy to fulfill. It's becoming a problem because I'm going to uni soon, where I worry I'll just rot or something, but also my parents keep getting on me about it and I feel so disgusting and dirty knowing that I'm not even doing the basics. It makes me really upset when they comment on it because I really am trying but it's never going to be enough. I've tried things like the Pokémon Smile app and rewarding myself other ways but it doesn't work for me. I'd just really appreciate literally any advice on how to be better at this kind of stuff since I don't want to feel any worse about it or have it lead to bad consequences in the future.
