In Season 5 (and actually already at the end of Season 4), we see that Gilead has supporters and even followers in Canada.

During the trial of Fred and Serena Waterford, and later at Fred’s funeral, Gilead gains a lot of support from some Canadians, also thanks to Serena’s influence.

Then Lawrence creates “New Bethlehem” and promises forgiveness for American refugees in Canada who want to return to a more “human” version of Gilead. It even feels like some countries are starting to open up to Gilead again.

What feels less believable to me is that all of this suddenly disappears after Boston is liberated.

It’s like all the Gilead supporters suddenly vanished or lost all their influence in Canada. Sure, there’s still the “Pearl Girls” program to attract young girls to Gilead, but overall it feels like Gilead suddenly lost a lot of influence.

That part felt a bit unrealistic to me.

  1. Does "England" even exist in this world, or does it remain a fractured archipelago of rival tribal confederacies?

2)In our timeline, Rome brought Christianity. I suppose without Rome, the British Isles remain a Druidic world, so how would British culture have changed if the Anglo-Saxon religion and the Celtic religion had to live together instead of being replaced by Christianity?

3)How does Christianity eventually arrive on this island?

4)Would the Anglo-Saxons be forced to adopt Brythonic culture to survive? Or they would replace it?

5)How do all of these affect the later Viking invasion?
