Help me choose an am4 cpu for my new 9070 XT
My RTX 3060 Ti died after a fall and I’m using this as an excuse to rebuild most of my PC. I already found an RX 9070 XT for an ok price (around $875 converted from BRL), so now I’m trying to decide what AM4 CPU makes the most sense to pair with it. i currently have a 5600g so my pc is still has video (thank me from the past who expected this to happen)
Current situation:
- I already have 32GB DDR4 RAM
- I’ll probably keep my current AM4 motherboard
- Main use is gaming (1080/1440p looking to get at least 240 fps on competitive titles and like 144ish on triple a games)
- I care a LOT about frametime smoothness and low stutter
- I prefer performance over productivity
The CPUs I’m considering are:
- Ryzen 7 5700X
- Ryzen 5 5500X3D
- (Wanted a 5700X3D badly, but prices here in Brazil are insane right now)
The 5500X3D is interesting because of the 3D cache, but availability is awful. The 5700X is much easier to find and cheaper.
Would the 5500X3D actually be noticeably better for gaming with a 9070 XT, or should I just get the 5700X and stop overthinking it?
Also open to Intel suggestions if they somehow make more sense price/performance-wise.
DDR5 is no option at all. Budget is around 1200$, keep in mind that everything here in brazil is at least 35–55% more expensive in direct conversion 💀
