boss oc-2 dry switch mod problem

Hello - would appreciate any help here 😄

I have performed this "dry switch" mod on my boss octave oc2 (from around 1994/95 - 12v - made in Taiwan) - which toggles the dry signal:

(it involved bending the middle lug of the direct pot - this was the lug connected to R59).

It kind of works lol.

So when the switch is set such that the dry signal is ON, everything works fine.

However, when the switch mutes the dry signal, and dry is 0% or 100%, then the pedal is totally silent (no ouput at all) .... but when dry is between 2% and 98%, it works as expected (i.e. octaves only).

Also, when the direct level is 0% or 100%, and I toggle the new footswitch, there is a loud pop (no pop when the dry is between 2% and 98%). Any idea what is going on here? It's strange that only the EXTREMES of the pot are not working.

(also, when the pedal itself is off, having direct volume at 0% also causes no sound to come through).

Is the original design in the forum post actually correct?

I have some experience with soldering -- I built 2 electric guitars - I also spent 10 weeks working in a factory soldering gas meters when I was 19... but that was so long ago I forget my skillz lol -- so I could have damaged something maybe.

Many thanks for any info 😄
