I am 36 and was recently laid off. TBF I was miserable there but it fed my kids so I stuck around longer than I should. I am coming from Software Development so I have 0 knowledge of HVAC beyond the one time I replaced my dead capacitor. Sorry for the barrage of questions that follow lol.

What does it takes to get into the HVAC space?
Am I looking at a huge pay cut from what I was making 75k a year and what kind of pay should I expect?
If so, what kind of time frame am I looking at to get back to that or can I get back to that?
This probably depends heavily on who I work for but what kind of hours and schedule would I be working?
What are the differences between commercial and residential? do you work on both? Is there a pay difference?
What do you dislike the most about your job?
