Reconnected with a blind friend after 15 years

Hi all.

I'm sighted, but my friend is blind. We've recently reconnected after 15 years apart, and I want to socialise with him.

He's very independent, he lives in his own house, has a guide dog, and is a DJ.

We live in a rather rural place (Redruth, Cornwall). Aside from coastal or forest walks with the dog, what other activities could we do together?

Has anyone here ever asked a customer out on a date?

I work in a hardware store in a non-customer facing role (I do all the stockchecks). I also live in a very rural area where the dating pool is small, and there are no gay bars or clubs for a few hundred miles, so it's difficult to meet people.

One of the regular customers is rather attractive and, most importantly, a shortass like me. I've seen him on Grindr before in passing, but he's always been behind the pay wall (i.e., geographically, he's outside of my purview).

I've been single for most of my adult life due to the aforementioned small dating pool and rurality of where I both live and work.

I want to ask him out, but I am not 100% sure how to approach it. Obviously, I'd do it when he's looking at paint or something, not when he's in the queue.

Has anyone here ever asked a customer out (or been asked out by a member of staff at a store)? If so, how did it go?

Obviously, if he says no, I'd treat him no differently than any other customer (that is to say totally ignore him unless he asks me a question!). 😅
