FTM here. My sweet baby boy is 4 months + 3 weeks and has been falling asleep independently since we gently sleep trained him around 3 months using “Give Baby A Chance.” He goes into the crib awake for bedtime and naps and typically sleeps 5–9 hour stretches at night with one feed (around 1–4am, breastfed). Recently, he’s also been taking longer naps (1–2 hours). He’s on a 3-nap schedule with wake windows of ~1.75/2/2–2.25/2.5 hours. First nap is usually 2 hours, followed by a 30-1h second nap, and final 30 min nap before bedtime.

For the past 2–3 days, his first stretch has shortened to ~2–4 hours, followed by wake-ups every 1.5–2.5 hours. He fusses/cries for 5–10 minutes, then falls back asleep on his own—no intervention needed (last night this happened 5 times).

Could this be the 4-month sleep regression even though he’s already sleep trained? Has anyone experienced something similar?

He’s had occasional off nights before (usually followed by a new skill), but never for this many days. He also wasn’t a great sleeper as a newborn, so I’m unsure if he’s already gone through the regression.

Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone,

I have a fixed variable mortgage with RBC. Mortgage is due for renewal August 31 2026 and my house is due to close with new buyers mid-May 2026. I read up on different types of mortgages, and want to 'renew' my mortgage to make it fully open for a year to avoid the prepayment penalty since the property will sell soon. Despite the higher interest, it worked out to be cheaper to pay that interest vs the penalty. I spoke to a mortgage advisor and was told I can renew my mortgage using their early renewal online option but no options for an open mortgage were available. When I asked about conversion fees, I was advised there weren't any, but they were vague about whether I would be still breaking the term of my current fixed mortgage and have to pay a penalty to switch.

Is it a bad idea to change my mortgage from closed to open to avoid prepayment penalty fees? Since my mortgage is large, the penalty is significant (5 digits).

Thanks in advance.
