My dream venue in my hometown cannot accommodate more than a micro wedding so it would only be our bridal party, family members and a handful of very very close friends. Additionally, it will be destination and I already assume most folks won't be able to afford the destination either. It makes me so sad to think that I won't be able to celebrate with everyone in our lives so would it be that bad to host an engagement party or some sort of celebration with everyone who can't attend? My thoughts would be something very casual (in our backyard or a casual venue that I work at) with hors d'oeuvres, drinks, even party favors and possibly a photographer to capture the special moments and absolutely ZERO gifts. Not only do I want to celebrate with everyone but I also don't want them to feel forgotten so it seems like the best compromise with the situation but after doing some wedding etiquette research I worry it could be worse...
