I Doordashed some food and left an extra tip so the guy would bring it to my apartment door over the lobby and he said he would. When he took my tip but left the food in the lobby I muttered, “fucking dickhead” before going down to grab it. When I come back upstairs, my girlfriend asked why I muttered that and I explained. She was very combative about it saying my words are “bad karma” and “really rude.” Personally, I don’t see how muttering something to myself is that deep, especially since it’s not like the guy heard me or anything. Anyways she kept harping on it and I told her she was trying to argue for some reason and she said “no you are.”
Eventually I said verbatim “be quiet. I don’t want to talk about this anymore” and she replied, “fuck you,” so I told her she needs to go back to her apartment. She started crying and said she was sorry afterward and then said “you won’t be able to do this when we’re living together (we’ve planned to move in together) and I told her “we aren’t going to live together if you talk to me that way.” Then she threatened to move out of state back with her Mom and said she “doesn’t want to date an asshole” so I said “then don’t.”
Honestly, I’m offended at all of this (her language, her combativeness, and her threats) and even though she apologized after I said that, she only did so because she didn’t want to leave my place because her “head hurts.” This just happened so please excuse the rushed writing style. I just want to authentically portray what happened. AITAH for kicking her out like she says? Or is she in the wrong as I believe?
