Need some solid recommendations for good soldering start
I’ve been messing around with soldering lightly for about a year. Just doing small things here and there to try to learn. I’m wanting to get more serious into the hobby. Mostly focusing on electronic repairs. I’m looking for some good recommendations on soldering stations that have worked for others. Right now I’m using a portable TS80 and I have a hard time getting it up to temp for some things. I’d say I’d have about $150 spending limit on a station.
I’m also having difficulties trying to find what are good quality products such as solder wire and flux, I keep reading reviews on amazon and it’s making me not confident in choosing something that will actually work?
I also want to get a hot air rework station because I want to work on consoles so I feel like it is a necessity to make things easier such as hdmi replacements amongst other things. So any advice on a good one of those would be appreciated as well.
To finish this off, just a list of things that would be handy to get to make soldering process easier. Things that have worked for you that you want to share. Other than my ts80, I bought a zip up starter kit that just seems to be filled with all the cheapest stuff that either keeps failing me or easily breaks. So I guess what I’m saying is if it could help me build a better soldering stations I’d be happy to hear it all. Thank you to anyone in advance that gives me any kind of insight on my journey.
