What would you guys think of adding axle loading to trains?

What would you guys think of adding axle loading to trains?

Basically the heavier a train is using as few wheels as possible it will be able to pull more. On the other hand if you have a lighter engine with its weight spread out over a ton of wheels it won’t be able to pull anything.

Bridges and things like that would also have weight limits. So no more running big boys to the arctic. Perhaps certain areas of track would also be unstable. Meaning you’d need something with a lighter axle load to avoid the rails collapsing under you.

Just something i think would make designing trains more interesting and challenging

What are your world’s other dimensions?

Dimension in this context means a place or plane of existence that’s impossible to reach by physical means (think the nether from Minecraft, the warp from warhammer, the various realms from Zelda like the twilight realm or Lorule.)

What makes them different to the main one?

What’s their relationship with the main dimension?

How do you get there if you even can?

What lives there?

Example:

Mightier Than the Sword

The mirror world is pretty much an exact replica of our own. The main difference is that everything is made of dark matter and dark energy instead of normal matter and energy. Other than that everything looks exactly the same and everything has and will happen exactly the same (except all the colors are inverted but to them we’re inverted).

It’s meant to be a sort of counterweight to our world. The forces that exist between these worlds are what holds reality together. Without them things stop making sense, physics stops behaving like it should.

There’s no way to get there unless you’re a god. And even then it’s gonna take quite a bit of effort.

Inspiration for this actually came from a Neil deGrasse Tyson video on dark matter https://youtu.be/uBbxXNhZ78c?si=dX1t7sPkSjZ57UTj

I’ve spent literal months on these guys. Started several other projects between then and now but they’re finally done! Hopefully I can finally play a game with my brother

See this town? Your goal is to occupy it by any means!

Your forces are based in a neighboring town about 10 miles away. Said forces consist of generic units from whatever faction you choose (so no special forces, super soldiers etc). You get 1000-1500 men depending on technology level (more advanced = less men). You occupy towns to the north and southwest so those are your two potential approach points.

The town is currently occupied by whatever faction opposes the one you’ve chosen. Their numbers are roughly proportional to your own strength. So if the enemy typically has larger numbers you could expect up to 2000 and vice versa. Also if applicable they will have set up light anti air defenses and potentially anti missile and anti space weapons.

They have no idea you’re coming but can be alerted by scout patrols or other recon systems if applicable. All civilians have either fled or evacuated. There’s enough food and supplies for the town to be cut off from supply chains for at least 2 weeks.

Now knowing all this how are you gonna take that town?

Example:

I’ll be using a 1000 strong regiment from the Kitsujo empire.

Co I, Ro, Ha, infantry x700

Co Ni, artillery x200

Co Ho, sappers x100

They will be facing a defense of 1500 men from the Eisenriech of Husarria.

Technology is roughly equivalent to ww1.

Battle will start at night since kitsune have superior night vision to humans.

24:00, the kitsune open up with a massive artillery barrage aimed squarely at the bridges connecting the south side of the town to the north. It has been meticulously sighted in advance to ensure every shell hits. At that exact moment kitsune begin pouring in from the north. The humans struggling to gain their composure, having been fast asleep just a minute earlier.

24:05, the first human defenders are beginning to fight back. The night garrison has either been trapped on the south side of the river or largely destroyed in the initial surprise attack. Grenades are thrown in the windows of buildings to clear them out. The kitsune have already captured the town hall.

24:15, the kitsune have now reached the church. They now control both of the main human command centers.

24:30, whilst the defenders have been distracted by the main assault the sapper company has been making their way towards the southern road. They face some light resistance from human forces still there. Fortunately they make it there under cover from artillery.

24:35, the sappers have set up a machine gun nest and defensive works to prevent any vehicles or other forms of resupply from getting in.

1:00, now realizing they’re cut off from supplies and after several failed attempts to retake the town hall and church, the humans finally surrender.
