Made a guide on how to navigate cognitive science MS Cognitive Science admissions in India

I cleared the IITGN MSc Cognitive Science interview this year after going through the whole process from scratch - entrance exams, research statements, SOPs, interviews.

A lot of people have been reaching out asking where to start so I figured I'd share what actually helped:

- Research papers feel impossible at first start with review papers, not empirical ones.

- Your research statement isn't about sounding smart, it's about showing you know what a research question looks like

- Interview prep is less about knowing answers and more about thinking out loud comfortably

- MCQ practice for cogsci exams is genuinely hard to find . I'll point you to what worked

If anyone's preparing for IITGN, COGJET, NIMHANS, TISS, or similar programs and has questions, drop them below.

Cleared the IITGN cogsci interview this cycle and have been helping a few students with their applications informally. Sharing some honest observations since I see a lot of confusion in this space:

- Most students don't know the difference between a research program and a taught program know which one you're applying to

- GATE psychology is not the only route

- direct admissions exist and are underrated.

- SOP for a research program is completely different from a regular master's SOP

- your research interest needs to be specific - Interview panels want to see curiosity, not just textbook knowledge

Happy to answer questions in the comments.

Hello. I have secured admission to one of the IIT and my course fees for the first year is 69000 with a fee waiver of 10000 for sc students. If the amount remains same for next year. The total amount i have to pay is under 2 lakhs. Is it worth getting a student loan over this? My major point of getting a loan is to not let my parent take the burden of paying to higher institutions for my brother and me. He's in iim so his fees is much higher than mine.

I'm thinking of sbi student loan as the interest rate is lower their. My parents can pay my fees so it's not a financial problem but i wanted to pay for my own masters but considering interest rate for emi and everything I think it'll get expensive. What do you think i should do?

Are there other banks I should look into? Are there schemes for students admitted in IIT to get a reimbursement of some sort?

Dont know when it started but i can feel the joy being sucked out of me lately. My health history includes pcos, anxiety, depression. To top it all of I'm overweight now and in diet programs to lose the 84 kg that I'm rn. I am also severely deficient in vit b 12 and vit d. And I'm on anti depressants too. Taking therapy as well. Mental health was way too much worse that could 2 year drop as well to focus on getting better and look where it led to me. Im so fucking tired of taking meds for what not every single day. I am fucking tired of constantly trying to do better be it taking meds, be in constantly exercising, eating well, not spiraling in anxiety and depression. And to top it all I have academic anxiety too. I couldn't clear gate this year I switched fields in the hope to get better outcomes this time. Yet I couldn't clear that one exam i should have. I cleared cuet pg with average scores and I don't see a point in living anymore atp. Because I'm trying my best. I am eating despite my eating disorder tendencies, I'm pushing myself to be physically active, taking antidepressants and therapy yet I'm not succeeding anywhere. It all feels like a mess like I'm going nowhere in life. I have lost all the motivation to work hard enough for one happy moment in my career but all i keep getting is failures. I mean I dealt with my mental health for fucks sake and I'm still stuck here
