Is moving out into a 1 bed/ studio with a budget of under 1k pm doable?
Hey, I could really use some honest advice from people who’ve actually done this.
I’m 24F and currently living at home with my parents, but it’s honestly just not working anymore. The relationship is becoming quite strained and it’s starting to affect me mentally. I feel like I’ve outgrown the situation and staying here is keeping me small.
Ideally, I always imagined I’d stay home, save, and go straight into buying my own place. But realistically… I don’t know how long that will take, and I’m starting to feel like I’m putting my life on hold.
So I’m considering moving out and renting a 1 bed or studio instead.
My rough budget is under £1,000/month for rent, and I’d like to be somewhere commutable to London (mainly for social life, I’m not super tied to a specific area).
I guess my questions are:
- Is this actually doable right now, or am I being delusional?
- Are there specific areas/towns I should be looking at?
- Is a studio way more realistic than a 1 bed at this price?
- How far out would I realistically need to go?
- And for those who moved out before buying … do you regret it financially?
I’m not expecting luxury at all, just something safe and livable.
