Tell me if this is a wrong step.

I am a student. And i missed Cuet form this year . It was my drop year for neet , but it didn't went well for me . So i thought of pursuing psychology . And the option i have and i found is Doon university.
Is it Worth it though? I mean i like psychology I'd like to learn more and pursue it . But is this college a Good choice or are there any better choices?

Suggest me and please help me .

Hey everyone,

I’m a Garhwali looking for suggestions for genuinely offbeat places in Uttarakhand where I can spend some time away from crowds and noisy tourist spots.

Suggest me places with:

  • beautiful mountain views
  • rivers/streams to sit or bathe near
  • forests and nearby bugyals/meadows
  • authentic village life
  • small local markets
  • warm locals and peaceful atmosphere
  • low tourism/commercialization

Not looking for cafés, resorts, or crowded hill stations. I’d rather experience real mountain life, explore hidden places, stay around locals for a few days, and disconnect from city routine.

Please suggest hidden villages/areas in Kumaon or remote Garhwal that match this vibe.

Also, if possible, do share contacts of trustworthy locals who can help with stay/guidance, or connect me with any young local who’d be open to showing nearby rivers, bugyals, trails, villages, etc. 🙏

Hey kumaoni folks help me .

Hey everyone,

I’m from Uttarakhand and I’m looking to connect with someone from a Kumaoni village who genuinely lives the mountain lifestyle — not tourism/resort stuff.

I’m searching for places with:

flowing streams/rivers nearby

bugyals or open alpine meadows accessible

dense forests

small alive local market/village life

wooden/stone Himalayan homes

warm local culture and simple living

very low crowd and low commercialization

Basically the kind of atmosphere where you wake up to river sounds, walk village trails, sit with locals over chai, maybe help in daily life, and experience the slower mountain rhythm for a few days.

I’m not looking for luxury stays or influencer spots. I’d honestly prefer a local connection over hotels/homestays. Even nearby hidden villages around a known area are fine.

Would love recommendations or to connect with anyone from Kumaon who feels their village matches this vibe.

Want some help from himanchali locals

Hi everyone,

I’m looking to spend some time in Himachal and experience real village life away from tourism and commercial places. I’m originally from Pauri Garhwal, so I’m already comfortable with pahadi culture, village environments, and simple mountain living.

What I’m searching for is something genuine — living among locals, understanding daily life, spending time near rivers and streams, walking village trails and forests, maybe exploring nearby meadows, and just slowing down for a few days.

I would especially prefer Barot Valley and nearby villages, since the place feels peaceful and closer to the kind of atmosphere I’m looking for.

I’m hoping to connect with locals from Barot or people who know the area well and could help me experience the local lifestyle rather than the usual tourist side of Himachal.

If anyone here is from Barot Valley or knows people/villages there that would fit this vibe, I’d genuinely appreciate connecting. :)

Hey!

Planning to check out a café in Haridwar tomorrow or the day after ☕

If anyone’s interested, you’re welcome to join—no fixed plan, just keeping it chill and spontaneous.

We can decide the café beforehand or figure it out over DM. Open to good conversations, good vibes, and just a relaxed hangout. Mainly going for tasting food and trying out different things.

It can be a simple meet—no need to exchange contacts, just show up, chill, and leave. No pressure—join if it feels like your kind of plan. HMU!

Went to a cafe in Ranipur Mor called Bistro57, and honestly, it was a really good experience. Went there with a friend - had coffee, a green apple mojito, and a toast. Everything tasted good and, surprisingly, nothing felt overpriced. Proper value for money.

The vibe was chill, nice place to just sit and talk. Also randomly spotted a cute girl there (just a side rant).

Overall, the visit just made me feel like I should start exploring more cafes around Haridwar/Ranipur. Planning to try different spots from now on.

Any suggestions for similar cafes? Open to recommendations. If anyone's into cafe hopping and would like to join sometime, Imk.

So far l've tried - aamantran, Zorko, renaissance, hungry oven, tripti cafe, fun bites, and Bistro57 etc.
