Hoping for some advice here - I've found myself dealing with our IP Office system, as the other guy that used to handle it left abruptly. It's an IPO running R10, it was installed about 7 years ago, and hasn't been touched since. Voicemail Pro running on a Win7 box. 6 analog trunks, about a dozen 9508 sets.
In diving into this, I've found that our selling dealer went out of business like 5 years ago; just to add some extra seasoning to the sauce.
I'm not a complete noob - but I was a Norstar/Meridian guy; so I get concepts but not specifics.
How critical are software updates/patches on this system?
I understand that VMail Pro system we have was on the edge of out of date when it went in; and is well past EoL now - what's the current best practice?
We're potentially moving to SIP trunks by force in the very near future (long story short, we're moving offices, and our provider may not offer analog loops any longer) - can this hardware/software support SIP trunking; or do I need software/hardware upgrades or add-ons?
I am meeting with a local Avaya IP Office dealer shortly, I just want to have some background before I get there...
