My husband’s brother asked him last minute to pick up his dog from the vet while he was in Europe. Somehow that turned into us having the dog for about four days now.
For context, I have a 3 and 4 year old on completely different school schedules, so my days are already nonstop with drop-offs, pickups, and everything in between. We also have a dog of our own to take care of.
I do want to say I love my brother-in-law’s dog, but she’s elderly, on multiple medications, and has been having accidents in my house constantly. This isn’t easy care. I’m the one feeding her, giving meds, and cleaning up after her all day. My husband does none of it.
Originally I was told the dog would be picked up Sunday. Then Sunday turned into Monday. Now it’s Tuesday and she’s still here with zero communication.
When I called my husband to ask what’s going on, he acted like he had no idea and then started questioning me (“why do you care/is it really such a big deal”) Telling me I’m overreacting.
I feel like I got volunteered for something I never agreed to, and now I’m stuck doing all the work while being made to feel like I’m the problem for even asking for an update.
Mind you, we watched her once a year ago and it was a disaster (like this, diarrhea all over my rugs etc) and we agreed we would t watch her again—this now her 3rd time back!!
Am I seriously TAH for being upset about this??
