drama in the spider world!
i just witnessed something straight out of a telenovela today omg
so i was out looking for jumpers, and i found this little female h. ophrys. lets name her patricia. i was photographing her when i noticed two other females- but those two are irrelevant to the plot so they shall remain unnamed.
i noticed patricia was being stalked by a male- lets call him herbert. she seemed to notice but pretended not to care. so, she started hunting down this earwig, and it kept retaliating and the fight was pretty intense but she was persistent. anyways herb, he decided now was a great time to show off his moves and he started following her around and waving his arms about. she of course, grew tired of this and finally chased him down. with herb out of the way, she continued the hunt.
herb was pretty distraught, but he was determined. he admired her from a distance while she caught the earwig. and learning from his mistakes, he finally waited until she didnt have to deal with it anymore. so with patricias face stuffed with earwig, he approached her, dancing. patricia was unimpressed and kept turning away, hoping he’d get the hint.
however herbert kept following her. he knew she couldnt chase him down this time so she was forced to watch.
but- another male enters the scene. his name is mark.
mark is also looking for females. he wants herbert out of the way. so mark runs at him and they fight. it was a violent display, arms flailing, fangs flashing, and it lasted a whopping ten seconds. herbert had won! mark ran off, defeated.
back to seducing the girl. he had to have her. patricia was practically rolling her eyes at him. but this is when i had to leave, so
