What Did I Do Wrong?
I was in a GREAT mood. It was sunny outside, the weather was great, and i found a dress at the store that I REALLY wanted bc it was on a steep discount and it was literally the last one left so I was super excited. I had a great customer service experience when I checked out. I stepped outside and saw a women walking toward me with a nice dress so I complimented her by smiling as she walked by and saying, "hey! Thats a really nice dress!"
When I tell you that she looked at me like I had three eyeballs. She gave me the meanest look and kept on walking...
I was so embarassed. I figured I'd spread some sunshine around and make someone else smile too. I was totally going out on a limb but now I wonder...
Are we so polarized in this area that we can't even smile or compliment one another? Granted if you put us side by side it would be easy to stereotype and assume we were on opposite ends of the political spectrum (and that might be a fair assessment) but is that what it was? Or am i reading way too much into this?
I've lived here most of my life...but things feel so off around here recently. Today kind of felt like an extension of that.
