hello! i’m a nervous gauge swatcher…
for those who have knit the esther jacket (or sweater) - is the gauge swatch the entire rectangle / chart repeat outlined on page 11 or 12? and does this one repeat = 10x10cm?
want to make sure i have the right pattern before i measure :) thanks
I'm used to spinning combed top and find this really easy to spin smoothly/relatively evenly, but just tried a batt for the first time and found it almost impossible to avoid slubs! the fibre was 70% merino and 30% silks.
I tested out short forward and backward draw, as well as some supported long draw, but regardless found that I was just not able to get it consistent. I still love the yarn (it's very artsy... lol) but wondered what tips and tricks there are to get a more even yarn?
also - I have hand carders, would carding the batt into rolags help here?
