a bit of a rant because I just had a horrible game, but this ETERNITY GAME was played by my supports like it was plat. seeing that these mistakes aren’t know even AT AN ETERNITY LEVEL OF GAMEPLAY, I decided I would put in some advice for those learning. I understand I’m not a support player, but I can see by how my supports play what they are doing wrong and what works and what doesn’t. hope this helps.
1, when playing against dive, stop running away: first fight of the game, a BP dives our backline. I as hulk was aware of this and bubbled my supports to shut down the dive. however both of my supports (invis and Jeff) ran for their fucking life, ran an entire corner away from our frontline and left our strange to die holding off 5 people. not only does running from your team during a dive isolate yourself and make it easier for the diver to kill you AND escape, it also makes it harder for you to help your team. you effectively starve your entire team of help from eachother. DO NOT DO THIS. a diver is way less likely to jump you if Benjamin J grimm is sitting there ready to say hello. if the fuckin hulk is sitting on the enemy support it’s a lot more risky to dive.
2: YOU DO NOT ALWAYS HAVE TO ULT!!! We just capped first objective, we are chasing kills to try and stagger for next fight, the enemy invis for some reason ults. A COMPLETE WASTE. The logical play here is to back up. we were extended to try and chase kills, we forced out a support ult without commiting any ults ourselves. You back up and now you fight enemies with 1 less ult. easy right? Nope, our invis pops her ult, proceeds to die through it anyways. This does lead me to my next point but the biggest mistake here was ulting in the first place. By ulting with the enemy invis, she puts us down a support ult too and leaves us vulnerable next fight.
3: BE AWARE OF YOUR COUNTERS AND TRY TO PLAY AROUND THEM!!! almost every time my invis or Jeff ults i heard one of 3 things. either “FEAR MAGNETO”, “NOM NOM NOM” or “RELEASE THE GLARTROX” almost every single time they died. I think I can recall 2 ults that they didn’t die and Jeff was 0 of them. any support should be aware of your counters, any HERO period should be aware. But when you Jeff ult into a hulk with bubble and a magneto with ult, suprise suprise your gonna die. I attempted to bubble my invis but she ran away from me, refused to self shield herself and died. You supports are typically given MULTIPLE ways to avoid the FEW things that can kill you through your ults. Please use them.
4: learn to swap off. I don’t care that the enemy is running dive, that doesn’t mean you hold 0 blame for dying. Get tf off of Jeff into black panther. as for any hero, if you can’t stay alive and provide value swap tf off. I don’t care that you have lord icon. I really don’t.
that about wraps it up. Apparently you can make it to eternity WITHOUT KNOWING THIS. So if you apply these tips you will be better off than some of my eternity teammates. Good luck guys.
