The room is not done yet. Please focus on the coffee table question!

I recently bought a new couch for my small living room. I originally planned to get a coffee table for tv remotes, tissues, and snacks/meals. Originally I was thinking a round or oval table with storage and/or a lift top that I could use to eat or place a laptop/ tablet.

One thing I did not consider until the couch arrived is that it sits partially in front of the coat closet, so any table would need to sit far enough away from that wall to allow the door to open. When the door is open fully perpendicular to the couch they're about 34 inches apart, so my guess is that any table would need to be less than 20 inches deep.

With the couch in place I'm also worried that more furniture in the space will make it feel crowded, but that might just be me getting used to having a full sized couch in the room after living without one for over a year.

I could put a tray on the ottoman and use that as a coffee table, but I bought the ottoman because I wanted to 1) sit with my feet up while watching tv and 2) move it around as guest seating. I'll likely buy a c-table to use as an end table by the seat furthest from the bookcase regardless of whether I get a coffee table.

Other things I think people might ask about

  1. I am getting throw pillows for the couch, I just haven't had a chance yet.
  2. I'm planning to replace the poang chair that's in some of the photos with something smaller that can double as a guest seating and a spot for me to sit while taking off shoes. Likely a small, round ottoman, or ideally a swivel chair if I can find one small enough.
  3. I know the tv is "too big" for the stand, but it fits in the niche and I like the tv there so its not high on my list of things to replace right now.
  4. The recycling on the chest will not be staying 😅
