What’s life like in the area just east of St Joe’s?

Likely moving there soon. Seems like a lot of more temporary housing but hoping there still some community to be found with the folks who live there. Looks like it could be a little rough around the edges but manageable. What kinda security measures are reasonable and what is too much? Can you keep a nice car on the street if you use a wheel lock? Also super stoked about some of the community gardening stuff happening in the area, good way to meet people which is important to us.

Does the city usually reject new curb cut right of way permits now days?

Let’s say I wanted to use my side yard, on a tiny lot. Just want to get a car off the street, make it easier to unload groceries and ETC as well as loading/unloading a van for a small business I wanna run at home. I have read up on the permitting process and know I would need a licensed bonded contractor to handle most of it, but in general is the city letting people add new right-of-way changes to existing construction? Is it a waste of time perusing something like this or can it be viable? I know there’s a lot of factors and hard to guess without sharing my address which I don’t do online like this. Just curious if anyone has experience with this.

Im 10 years into big tech in Seattle, coming to a transition point in my life where I want to downsize from my high pay/high burn Seattle lifestyle to something more predictable and focus on starting my family, especially sense big-tech is no longer a stable field. Private sector state-pension work seems like the next step for me.

Worried the challenges facing big tech job markets in Seattle (layoffs, huge hiring pool) have equivalent challenges in private sector (budget cuts, freezes, sizable subset of big-tech hiring pool?).

Even with my experience, is it reasonable to expect that finding a WA state job is not something I should be counting on right now as I plan my next moves?
