You are given two (three) options by a magical man in a dapper suit. He will either give you a magic starship, or a magic dragon. You can only chose one. He's doing this to be nice to you, so if you hear both options and think they're both more trouble than they're worth, you can just take neither.

First, the starship: The starship is 22 meters tall, 30 meters wide, and 90 meters long and weighs 5,000 tonnes. It has 5 decks and a total of 7100 square meters (76.4 thousand square feet) of floor space. It can carry up to 10,000 tonnes of cargo. It has space and life support to comfortably accommodate 96 people. 100 MW of onboard power is available for running appliances and tools.

The starship can make copies of any equipment brought inside, so long as it weighs less than 8 tonnes. An 8 tonne block of transforming smart-matter will just become any device you want, as long as the ship has previously scanned the device. The ship has 12 such blocks, and they can transform an unlimited number of times into any device which the ship has scanned. The smart matter blocks still use power (from the available 100 MW or external powersources if provided) and stop working whenever they are more than 20 meters from the ship.

The starship doesn't actually fly places, it teleports you and everything inside once every nanosecond so it looks and feels like you're traveling, but you don't ever get weird relativistic effects. The ship takes ln(light-seconds) minutes to get you to any destination. For example, the moon is about 1.3 light -seconds away, so you would be able to reach it in ln(1.3) minutes, or about 0.26 minutes. The sun is 500 light-seconds away, so you could get there in ln(500) minutes, or 6.21 minutes (already slightly ftl). Tau ceti is 11.9 light-years away, so you would reach it in ln(369 million) minutes, or 19.72 minutes. The Andromeda galaxy at 2 million light years would only take 31.75 minutes. You could get anywhere in the observable universe in less than 50 minutes.

The catch is simple - the universe itself has not changed at all. Most of what's out there is empty space and dead rocks, and because it only copies devices humans still have to invent all the stuff we'd need to do any interesting science out there. If you wanted great scientists to join you you'd have to recruit them. But, you could. There are still some wonders out there, and while it would be a lot of work, you could discover and/or invent useful things to share with the world.

Second, the dragon: the dragon is whatever color of dragon you want it to be. It can size shift anywhere from 20 cm tall to 200 meters tall at will. It doesn't need to eat or drink, but it enjoys doing so. It is soul bonded to you, fiercely loyal, and wants you to be happy. It is as intelligent as you want it to be, anywhere from a smart dog to a supergenius. It is cuddly.

The dragon is very powerful and almost impossible to hurt. It can breathe fire, ice, and healing mist. It can fly and safely take you and other passengers along without you suffering from wind or g-force as long as it's cargo weighs no more than half as much as it does (at 200 meters it weighs about 850 thousand tonnes).

The dragon lives in a vibrant fantasy world, filled with magic and wonder. There are several connected fantasy dimensions to explore. You can travel to the fantasy world whenever you wish, and stay as long as you like, and no matter what exactly 3 seconds will pass in the real world. The same is true in reverse; no matter how long you stay in the real world, only 3 seconds will pass in the fantasy world. Both your real body and fantasy body age separately, so you wouldn't suddenly become unexpectedly old.

The catch - while you can visit the fantasy world with your magic dragon whenever you want, the dragon can't come to the real world. In fact, you can't take anything back from the fantasy world at all except your memory. You can have the adventure of your life, and probably will have a great time, but you can share none of it with the world.

Which would you chose?
