Tapering off xanax and was prescribed valium. Tonight i was withdrawing bad so i took 1mg xanax after taking a 5mg valium. I'm 5'10" 260lb.
I read it can be fatal or cause respiratory depression ? known as "doubling up"?
I'm just being extra cautious and i'm sure i'm fine but i'd just like to check with the community.
Am i safe to fall asleep? As i am very tired and it's past my bedtime :)

I had made a post a few weeks ago about a brutal withdrawal week when attempting to taper off 1mg.
I would frequently push the boundaries and try to go as long as possible without taking it. Resulted in very bad imbalance and withdraws etc.
And i just want to THANK everyone who helped out and voiced their opinions. It's so warming to know other people care and are on journeys of their own.
A few of you advised to take .5mg twice a day and it's worked like an absolute charm. So much so, I will attempt to do .3 twice a day in coming weeks.
My only question is this... And it's a question I feel only real students of the brain and experienced successful benzo recoveries can answer...
Wouldn't you think your GABA receptors will rewire/regulate better the more they are deprived of the benzo? Meaning.. Would the brain rewire itself more effictively & faster if you take 1mg every 24 hours instead of .5mg every 12 hours?
Or am I completely wrong for this theory ? Because i would love to be. I was ALWAYS against taking a dose within 24 hours and now im just taking half the amount every 12 hours. Which works great ... but will it eventually lead to 0mg?
