TUM Heilbronn Admission: Ambiguity between Sentence 2 and 5 regarding Midterm Grades

Hello everyone,

I recently received my VPD with an overall grade of 1.6. I am applying for the Information Engineering program at TUM Campus Heilbronn.

My high school certificate ( VPD ) list my final grades for Mathematics, English, and Science, but I do not have the separate midterm grades for the last two years of school.

I am confused about the "Subject-specific individual grades" section in the assessment procedure, specifically the interaction between Sentence 2 and Sentence 5:

The subject-specific individual grades are the grades listed in the higher education

entrance qualification for mathematics (triple), English (single) and the best continued

natural science including informatics (single) that were obtained in the last four midterm

report cards prior to attainment of the higher education entrance qualification, provided

that university entrance examination results in these subjects are listed in the higher

education entrance qualification. 2

If no midterm grades are shown, the average grades

shown in the higher education entrance qualification are used accordingly. 3These grades

are added up and divided by the (weighted) number of individual grades. The grades for

a final term paper or similar work are not taken into account. 4

If no grade is indicated in

the higher education entrance qualification for a subject named in Sentence 1, the factor

should be reduced by the corresponding number. 5

If no grades are available for the last

four midterms in the subjects mathematics or English, basic understanding in these areas

must in this case be proven by participation in the second stage in accordance with § 5(3)1

Sentences 2 and 3;

Since my final grades for these subjects are listed in my VPD, does Sentence 2 apply (using my final grades for the points calculation), or does Sentence 5 force me into an interview regardless of my score because the specific "midterm" breakdown is missing?

Has anyone with a similar international background (no midterm grades) received direct admission based on their VPD alone?

Thanks in advance!

Would TUM understand my DSH preparation situation?

Hello,

Urgent question.

I’m an international student who came to Germany last year. I currently have a conditional admission at Philipps University Marburg for an IT program, which is taught completely in German.

Because of that, I enrolled as a DSH preparation student for the summer semester, which ends on 30/09/2026. However, instead of attending the university language courses, I completed intensive German courses at a private institute, which is actually quite common among students in Marburg.

My question is:

Would it be okay to mention in my CV that I was enrolled as a DSH preparation student, or could that negatively affect my chances of getting accepted into TUM Heilbronn( Im applying for Bsc IE)?

Would they understand my situation?

Thanks in advance.
