This is my first ever attempt at... well, growing a plant. I saw this on a garden show and thought, 'I'm gonna try that.'

I extended the pole a week ago, the new leaf curled up on top has completely stopped since the pole was extended.

I've had new leaves continuously for the last 8 or 9 months... one opens up, next one starts immediately after..

What's going on?

Would be interested to hear from people who know what they're doing.
