The Miami Open tennis tournament was at Crandon Park on Key Biscayne from 1987 until 2018. The perfect Miami-esque place to hold a tennis event on the water.

Due to legal and renovation issues, it moved to Hard Rock Stadium in 2019. Then F1 came in to build the Miami Autodrome.

Stephen Ross has been building a campus/complex at the Hard Rock site and claims he makes more $$$ in the F1 weekend than a whole season of Dolphin’s home games.

Yet one event that was synonymous with Miami during the winter, the Super Bowl, is currently not up for discussion.

Yes, Hard Rock Stadium has been renovated and modernized, but what’s missing? A/C AND A ROOF. Also, there’s no more land.

And similar to this year’s super bowl in the San Francisco area, when things are too spread out for the big event, the NFL will start looking elsewhere.

Simply, South Florida and Hard Rock can’t compete with newer stadiums in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Atlanta, and soon to be in Nashville.

So while we just hand over Trump free land for his “library” and deal with the I-395 Signature Bridge. By 2040 we’ll still be wondering what to do with Miami Marine Stadium and covered parking for a Dolphin game will be $200 only paid in Crypto.

IYKYK, part of the golden era '97-'05. Similar to Northstar, I don't think they got the same popularity because of "Drive-Thru" image factor.

Being that Spirit Airlines is South Florida based with its hub at Fort Lauderdale, there’s been a lot of local finger pointing to why this happened.

The quick punch response is to say that it’s Biden’s fault cause they blocked the merger in 2024.

Yes, this is true however part of the problem was the pandemic. Just as Spirit has been losing money since 2020, so has JetBlue. As much as JetBlue wanted to merge, they saw Spirit’s outstanding debt as a problem.

So there is a VERY STRONG chance, that if JetBlue merged with Spirit, they would both be grounded. That would be two hubs at Fort Lauderdale Int’l in trouble.

What caused the shutdown this weekend was shareholders/debt collectors. Spirit tried to ask the Trump Admin for $500m as a lifeline. However, that would have possibly erased the money owed thus creating a bigger problem.

So instead Spirit has to shutdown, liquidate its assets and pay off their debts.

Spirit had already started reducing operations, other airlines will simply pick up their route, planes, and market share.

You do have to feel for all of the staff/employees and their families.

Please stop thinking that any new album will match LP1.

I get it we hope some of our favorite bands can recreate the magic from their first records but it's rather hard and you want it to feel organic.

Saves The Day will never recreate the first 3 records. Taking Back Sunday will never produce another Tell All Your Friends.

If we are talking Midwest Emo, we'll never have another Braid's Frame & Canvas, Cursive's Domestica, Owl's first album, or the first three Promise Ring Records. The Get Up Kid's first two records, etc.

The Jazz June, Sunny D, Christine Front Drive, Mineral, Cap N Jazz, Joan Of Arc, it all feels like a bit of time capsule to cherish.

FOR ME, American Football is LP1, the 1998 EP, and Year One Demos. I can appreciate the other three records, but not all the way through. Heir Apparent from LP3 is an absolute banger.

As far as LP4, it slaps. 20+ years later they are going to evolve the sound, more dreamy with influences of Mogwai and The Cure's Disintegration.

But please stop thinking there's going to be another Honestly, Never Meant or Letters/Packages. Just enjoy it for what it is.
