Filed uncontested divorce in NY without a lawyer. Biggest mistake people make

Most people think the difficult part of uncontested divorce in NY is filling out the forms.

Honestly, that’s usually not the real issue.

The bigger problem is making sure everything matches correctly across all the documents. Names, dates, addresses, timelines, formatting. Small inconsistencies are what seem to cause delays, rejected filings, or people having to resubmit paperwork.

I noticed a lot of people trying to do this themselves get overwhelmed once they reach the court packet stage, especially with the UD forms.

If anyone here is currently filing uncontested divorce in NY and trying to avoid mistakes or delays, I can point out some of the things that are easiest to miss.
