What do we think about Pokemon 4Ever?

released 2001

This was the movie I remember watching a lot as a kid (out of the first four movies).

All the stuff with Celebi is what I remember the most; >!Celebi's death scene still lives rent free in my head just for how harrowing it is - seeing Celebi shrivel up and everyone breaking down was greatly upsetting.!<

>!Also I just realised - Celebi dries up because it's a grass type! And plants dry up and shrivel when they die.!<

Sam is probably my only main critique with this movie - he's just not that interesting of a character imo. Which is a shame considering he's revealed to be >!Professor Oak from the past!<. I feel they could have laid out more hints of his interest in Pokémon research. All he really does is draw in a sketchbook - which is fine, but we already had that with Tracey, so it's not like it's a new thing.

Still think it's a good movie. It's in my top 5 at least.

When Pikachu is all squished/snuggled in Ash's arms 💛

Squish and snuggle the fluffy mouse 🐀💛

Pikachu just fitting against Ash and looking so small gives me life.

What do we think about Pokemon The Movie 3 (Spell of the Unown)?

released in 2000

In terms of all the Pokémon movies, this is one of the strongest in terms of character driven. The fact that the threat isn't even a "villain", but just a scared little girl who wants her family back, and uses the Unown to stay in her dream world because she prefers it that way. There's some heavy psychological and emotional themes going on here.

Delia being here too also drives the story; Ash relating to Molly in the sense that he does all he can to rescue his mother, no matter the risks.

Also bonus points to Dan Green voicing Entei.

One of the best of the early movies.
