Modern 3d/2d roguelikes you can recommend ?

From couple of hours of experience, i kind of like ADOM and Tales of Maj'Eyal. They looks deep, interesting and i feel real freedom when i play them.
But they kind of ugly. Mostly ADOM, with its inventory interface and Tales of Maj'Eyal with no animation of sprites.
Its possibly because of legacy of roguelikes as a genre, but is there something modern, more beautiful with same depth as ADOM and Tales of Maj'Eyal, or another good roguelike game ?

Important Roguelikes to play ?

What are important roguelikes to play ? I started interested in this genre, got ADOM and Tales of Maj'Eyal, which i think one of the best roguelikes, but what else i need to play ? Some roguelikes you consider as must-play for everyone who have interest in this genre ?
