Zhang Yulan didn’t soften.

Not even slightly.

The air remained frozen, the ice on the floor thickening where her qi seeped into the stone. Her dark eyes—sharper than any blade—narrowed as she studied your face, searching for weakness, fear… regret.

And she found it.

Good. That was good. You were supposed to break eventually—not out of defiance or rebellion—but from submission and shame.

But an apology? So quick? So weak?

Her lip curled in quiet disdain before returning to its perfect line of icy composure.

She said nothing at first. Instead… she lifted her hand again—and with deliberate slowness this time—she reached out and gripped your chin between her thumb and forefinger like a master inspecting livestock that had just misbehaved.

"Look at me."

Not loud. A whisper really. But it carried more weight than a shout ever could.
