Is Immich right for my setup?

Hello, I’m currently using Nextcloud, but our school’s graduation ceremony took place and I want to archive all the photos and videos. I’d like to take advantage of Immich features like face recognition.

I also want to send links to my friends so they can both upload files and view the uploaded photos. Nextcloud works flawlessly for this.

However, Nextcloud uses a folder-based system. This keeps my personal photos separate from the graduation and class photos. I can set up a similar system in Nextcloud. But if I switch to Immich, will I run into any issues?

Thanks to everyone.

I’ve been trying to run my own DNS setup in my homelab for a while now, but every time I attempt it, I end up dealing with either stability issues or things just not working properly.

My current setup is pretty simple: I have an OpenWrt router acting as the main DNS forwarder, and it forwards all DNS queries to an AdGuard Home instance running on my mini PC at 10.0.10.11. In theory, this should be clean and controlled, but in practice I don’t think the forwarding is consistently working. There are cases where DNS queries seem to bypass AdGuard entirely, which leads to DNS leaks.

The breaking point was today. I was trying to deploy Immich using a script from community-scripts.org. On the first run, the script failed with a DNS resolution error. I thought fine, maybe the container DNS is misconfigured, so I manually set the LXC container’s DNS to 1.1.1.1 and tried again. This time it failed during a git clone step, and again it was a DNS-related error. At that point it just felt completely unreliable like DNS resolution depends on random factors.

What makes this more frustrating is that whenever I switch to a public DNS setup like NextDNS using https-dns-proxy on OpenWrt, everything works perfectly. No leaks, no random failures, consistent behavior across the entire system. The proxy enforces DoH properly and I never run into these issues.

So right now, self-hosting DNS feels like the least reliable part of my homelab. Public DNS works flawlessly, but as soon as I try to control it myself, things start breaking in unpredictable ways.

If needed, I can share configs, logs, or more details about the setup. Any help would be appreciated, because this has easily become the most frustrating part of my entire homelab.

Her oyun tak diye açılıyor. Daha ne olsun. Windowstaysanız kesinlikle deneyin abi şu deneyimi.

CachyOS'ta default optimizasyonlar dışında yapabileceğim optimizasyon var mı?
