Hey! I’m from Central MA (outside Worcester) and I work in corporate accounting. My partner is considering a position at Elmira College and I wanted to hear what the vibe is like from people who actually live there.
I’m especially wondering:
- Does Elmira feel secluded/isolated, or is there enough going on?
- What’s the vibe like around the college area?
- Do people generally like living there / is it easy to meet people?
I’m also pretty social — I enjoy sports, going to the bar, watching games, etc. Is there a decent bar scene or places people go out?
Also curious about the job market — are there corporate accounting / office-type jobs around, or is it mostly remote/commuting?
I’m super used to the New England culture/attitude and having everything connected (people, places, things to do), so I honestly don’t know if I can leave that vibe. Just trying to get a realistic feel for what living in Elmira is like.
