Puppy diarrhea, no Giardia or parasites

Hi everyone! My 5mo puppy came back from daycare (once a week) Wednesday evening and had some diarrhea. We chalked it up to excitement and nervousness as he’s only been going a few weeks. Thursday evening he started having to go out every 2 hours. All diarrhea. He never poops usually after 1pm so it was weird. He also sleeps 8pm-8am without needing a potty and every two hours he whined to go out and had diarrhea everytime. Friday morning i immediately called the vet and I brought in a stool sample.

My puppy did have parvo has a young pup and they said they saw bacteria in his poop during his check up but not a cause for concern until diarrhea or vomiting.

The doctor called and said he didn’t have Giardia! Yay, phew. They only saw some bacteria in his gut (I’m assuming clositridum?) she told me but so much was going on.

She prescribed me provial probiotics for him and the provial paste. I started it yesterday mid-day!

Last night he woke up once at 3am and it was loose, but not complete diarrhea!

This morning he woke up and pooped a bunch of mucus.. could be from irritation? And then pooped a tiny bit of solid poop.

Has anyone gone through this? I’m so glad he doesn’t have Giardia but now I’m still stressed as it doesn’t feel like ifs totally getting better and I have no idea what caused this.

Hi everyone. We got a puppy 2 months ago and he is now 4.5 months old. I have been training him since the day I got him. He knows sit, down, stay, catch, drop it, wait, place, come, and is very very smart. We have been working on loose leash walking and he got it fast.

This morning we went to a local cafe and sat and he was atrocious. I mean eating rocks, not sitting still, just not what he’s been doing. I’m so upset because we’re back tracking and I want him to be able to chill with us at places. We have family coming next week and I really want him to join.

We then went on a walk on the trail next to it and there was a few more people than he’s used to (we have been doing yard walks first, neighborhood, and now into trail w minimal people, he even went on a hike the other day snd did great) and on the trail today he was flipping around like a fish, freaking out on the leash, pulling, running, and I just took he back to the car and cried. Why???

We came home and I made him “place” at my feet for 10 min and he did fine. We also did a walk and he did great. I know he can do it. But the public is still so exciting for him, but I do so well at doing it at home first and building it up and he has done so well in public at times so today felt so discouraging.

How often should we practice both (place at feet, and walks) to succeed in this? Maybe I’m not practicing it enough? We only do the place at feet/settle in public maybe 1 morning a week. Walks at home are everyday but in public, 1 morning a week as well.

Is this a normal 4.5 puppy thing?
