I'm just looking for some clarification on what happens when teams rolling off for a championship tie (in points) for the championship.

Our league is a 4 point system. 1 point each for games 1-2-3 and then 1 point for totals.

We had teams rolling off for our championship last night that tied in points. Each had 2 points. I am the secretary. Based on our league rules, I awarded the win to the team who won totals but I'm not sure now if that goes against USBC rules.

This is our league rule:

  1. Placement and Championship Roll-Off A team cannot bowl unopposed on this night, teams must be present.
    1. Placement nights will be used to determine the winners of the FIRST AND SECOND HALF.  The 4 points systems will be used (1 point per game and 1 point for totals).
    2. In the event of a tie for first place in either half, after placement night, we will refer to the USBC “Sudden Death Rule”, with 1/10th handicap for a 10th frame roll-off.
    3. League championship on roll-off night will consist of the winners of each half bowling a 3 game series, under the 4 point system.  If a tie results, the team who won totals or the 4th point will be the winners.

This has been a rule the entire time I've been secretary, but was a rule in place prior to me being secretary.

At our league start up meeting every year, we go over all of the rules and vote on adopting them or changing them as needed.

For our championship award both teams actually get championship money. Overall champion and then runner up. A couple people from both teams were willing to just do co-champions and then just split all of the money evenly but then others weren't.

For now/this season the most pins won but I'll like to fix this if we need to for next season and going forward.

Our league president does not really understand the rules and they are a member of one of the teams who was rolling off.
