Digestive upset in my cat after eating Fancy Feast Beef Pate (Batches JAN 2028 / OCT 2027)

I’m sharing this to see if anyone else has had a similar experience recently. I’ve seen several other cat owners posting about these kinds of issues lately, so I wanted to share my own story to help others track these specific batches.

My cat, Blackberry, is a bit of a picky queen, but she loves this specific recipe and it is the only one recipe she will eat from this brand. So, it has always been our household staple wet food, and she usually finishes her meal every time I feed it to her.

However, she has had recurring digestive upset (vomiting/diarrhea) that seems to coincide with a few specific batches of Fancy Feast Tender Beef Feast Classic Pate.

I want to be clear that this is our experiences and I’ve personally decided to stop feeding these specific batches to her after three incidents:

  1. Batch 5295UPB1 (Exp: OCT 2027): Blackberry vomited and had diarrhea shortly after eating in late February.

  2. Batch 60061160L7177 (Exp: JAN 2028): Reaction happened about 4 hours after her meal.

  3. Batch 60271160L7177 (Exp: JAN 2028): Most recent attempt resulted in vomiting within 30 minutes.

After the first two incidents on February 28 and March 11, I stopped feeding it to her entirely. However, since it is her absolute favorite, I decided to give it one more shot this month. We had a new batch delivered this week, but when I fed her yesterday, the same thing happened again.

So, last night I decided to submit an official report to the FDA with these batch numbers. If your cat is experiencing similar sudden upset, you might want to check your batch numbers and report them as well at safetyreporting.fda.gov.

Has anyone else with the JAN 2028 batches noticed their cats acting differently or having stomach issues?
