UPDATE: I GOT INNNNNN
Hey guys, I just took my oral exam today.
The examiner seemed quite nice at first where he was asking me why Semmelweis? why Hungary? what my hobbies are? what sports I do and then also why I picked medicine or what interested me about it in particular? We spoke about that for a good 30 mins
I felt like this part went so well me and the examiner where laughing he seemed genuinely interested we spoke about the weather and what sports teams we support etc.
However onto the questions part it felt so so rushed I believe he realised we didn't have much time left. he didn't allow me to go deep into concepts and if he heard a key word that he was looking for he would immediately just go yep and ask the next questions.
I think I did quite good in biology. He showed me pictures and asked about what's this etc first image was transcription/translation he asked me basic things like where does it occur for both what enzyme separates the strands which I got right then asked about what's was attached to the mrna in translation (ribosome) then asked me quick questions about ribosomes which was fine.
The second pic was blood and he asked me what was the thing inside the blood which I said heamaglobin which had the four groups and I named the groups before he could cut me off again and move on I explained that co2 however isn't stored as co2 in the blood I told him what it was stored as which he asked about the site of gas exchange and I told him explaining diffusion.
The chemistry part I was a bit iffy on not gonna lie. I wasn't able to go in depth unless I tried to talk over him. He showed me cell electrodes pic I spoke about oxidation and reduction then he asked why does the zn give electrons but not cu which again I said oxidation rules he then goes yh it's right but what exactly, I said charges for each are different allowing the other to give and one to receive he said yh what about it which I was thinking what else 😭 I ended up later searching it to find out he wanted the name of the electrode charge or something.
Anyways the second image was glucose but open chain and i was trying to figure out the name as I thought it was a random molecule he wants me to name he then points out the image next to it is the same molecule in closed ring form which I was like oh glucose. I pointed out aldehyde groups in there which he seemed happy about at least. Asked what glucose was and types of monosaccharide then about what 2 joined are called and the bond made plus the types which I answered right then asked about polysaccharides and asked me to name some I names cellulose and starch but he was looking for me to name glycogen which I forgot about.
Guys im too nervous do you think I'll get in cuz I was expecting to be able to ramble on about stuff like transcription process or translation anytime I tried I just got cut cuz he had to move on fast. Did this happen with anyone else.
