What should I look for when buying home insurance for an apartment?

I live in a multi-storey apartment and am looking to buy a new home insurance policy. My current policy is on the lower side and was part of a bundled offer when I bought my home in 2018. I’ve checked Policybazaar and found a few options, but I’d like to hear from people who have actually filed home insurance claims.

What are the key things I should look for when comparing policies? Are there any clauses or exclusions that people often overlook?

Also, when a claim is filed, how does the surveyor determine the payout amount? Is it based on current market rates, depreciation, or the surveyor’s own assessment?

Would appreciate any practical advice or lessons learned from your experience.

I ordered an MSI Modern 14 AMD Ryzen laptop on April 13 and it was delivered the next day via open-box delivery. Everything looked fine until I tried to boot it up, it went straight into BIOS mode. Since I’m not very technical, I sought chatgpt help and was told this usually happens when Windows fails to load.

I immediately placed a replacement request the same day. Flipkart informed me that I’d need to wait until April 26, when an MSI technician would visit to check the unit and approve the replacement. However, I received no call or message from MSI. I kept Flipkart updated, but they still asked me to wait.

Later, I was told the case would be resolved by April 29, but the timeline has now shifted again to May 1. I even escalated the matter to the grievance team, but that hasn’t helped either.

At this point, I’m stuck with a defective laptop, repeated delays, and no clear resolution. How can I get this sorted quickly?
