Hello,
Two years ago I (30s) got two crowns on my lower back molars. They were some sort of ceramic, the second most expensive kind offered at my dentist. They said they usually last about ten years. Within a few months, I had to go back for the left one because it kept bothering me, with my gums constantly inflamed. When I went back, the dentist removed a lot of excess cement that had been left in the area when I got the crown. This seemed like a red flag to me, because why did they let me walk away from the initial appointment like that?
A couple months ago, a big piece fell out of the right crown, and I had to go back and get it replaced. They did this for free and even upgraded me to a better crown bc I made a stink about having to go back multiple times. Last night, a piece fell out of the left crown!!!! It mirrors how the right one broke. I was eaten soft foods when I happened, by the way. I paid $2000 for each crown (with insurance!) and it feels insane that they both broke within two years of placement. Is this likely an issue with my dentist?
Btw, no dentist has ever told me I grind my teeth. When I went back to get the first crown replaced, the dentist did say it might be an issue with my bite, but idk, isnt the crown supposed to be fit to my bite?
TiA for replies
P.S. If you see green on the pic of the pieces, it's bc I was eating (cooked) broccoli
