I recently was offered a very flexible part time job. I have 3 kids ages 3, 6 and 10.

I’ve been a SAHM for the last 10 years, but am excited at the opportunity to get back into it a little. The employer is a mom too and wants to make it work. She wants 20 hours a week, preferably 3 days a week but she is willing to do whatever.

I’ll be making $30/hour. My two older kids are in school for 4 more weeks, then it’s summer. So I need something for all three of them. What is my best most affordable option for childcare? I’m not super excited about daycare since my job is so part time.

My husband is looking into working from home one day a week, Friday. So I’m thinking Monday/Wednesday 9-2:00 or so. Would you hire a nanny for all three ($25/hr) and take the $5/hour remainder for the summer? Then it will be more financially beneficial in the Fall when older two go back to school. Or wait until fall to look for a job? Or are there other options that I’m not thinking of?
