I've been with my partner over a year now. I'm a light sleeper so any kind of noise tends to wake me up. I like to have a pitch black room and a fan going as a background noise to drown out any other noise. My problem is that when my partner stays over, he's a bit of a snorer. Some nights he might only snore a little but others, especially when she's sick, it can be very overwhelming to the point where I actually leave the room to sleep somewhere else just to try to get some more sleep.
He has made an effort to try to reduce/get rid of this issue. Seems doctors and has been unofficially diagnosed with sleep apnoea. Just has to run this trial with one of those sleeping machines. Another doctor has said it could be due to his tonsils as they're quite large.
Anyway, my biggest concern I'm having is that we're planning to live with each other at some stage this year. I only see him a few nights a week currently. I'm worried that we're going to have to sleep in separate rooms or that I'm going to be so drained that I'll end up resenting him.
I can't put the entire blame on him, sometimes I do hear noises outside. Like loud cars driving, honking and doors slamming.
How can I become more of a heavier sleeper?
Edit: I forgot to mention that I do have earplugs but after a few hours of them in, it does become quite uncomfortable.
