how do i respond to my black and brown friends when they say they want to be white?
Im white and two of my friends are black and brown, and they talk a lot about wishing to be white. they’ll compare skin colour and get upset if they’re darker than the other. its especially bad for one of them who’s family is all white, she’s insanely insecure about it.
what should i do when they do this kind of stuff in front of me? sometimes i say “whats wrong with being black? youre so pretty” and then one of them says “everything. i hate it. im so ugly.” like is there any way to support them or should i just stay quiet? thanks
